Freedom to Read Film Screening: To Kill A Mockingbird

Freedom to Read Film Screening: To Kill A Mockingbird In-Person

As part of our ongoing Freedom to Read programming, you are invited to join the Yarmouth Town Libraries Board and library staff for a screening of the classic film To Kill A Mockingbird (1962, run time 129 minutes), for which Gregory Peck won the Oscar for Best Actor. This film was made from the novel of the same title, by Harper Lee, which was first published in 1960 and has long been a book that has been challenged when assigned as reading for schoolchildren. If you haven't read the book since 8th grade, we have copies available to check out at the library Circulation Desks! We'll follow the movie with a short discussion about what topics are controversial in books and film, and the value of literature and cinema that address issues of societal concern.
